Education is a critical component in the success of youth, particularly for youth in the foster care system. Until now, it has not been possible to truly understand how youth in care are preforming in school. Through linking child welfare and education data, this groundbreaking report presents an overview of how youth in care are preforming in school in four California counties. The report examines data from middle school, high school, community college and universities--comparing foster youth with their peers. With this data and further study, educators and child welfare practitioners can begin to work together to improve education outcomes for youth in care.
