Getting Down to Facts about California Schools

The Stuart Foundation cares deeply about improving schools so that all students reach high standards for learning and are ready for college, the workplace and citizenship.

We are pleased to be one of the four foundations that provided resources for the research recently released by Stanford University's Institute for Research on Education Policy and Practice: Getting Down to Facts: School Finance and Governance in California.

The data are now clear – California’s system of schools needs fundamental change.

Media That Matters

The Stuart Foundation’s reputation as a philanthropic leader in the field of youth media continues to grow. In 2006, we published a report entitled, Youth Media: I Exist. I Am Visible. I Matter. The study reviews our work in the field since 2003, and the accomplishments and challenges of our youth media grantees. We created the report in part to highlight the work of our grantees, but more so to engender discussion and continued investment in youth media as a powerful tool for positively impacting the lives of young people.
