National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to Create Advanced Principal Standards Committee
May 15, 2009
With the approved core propositions for educational leaders as the
foundation, the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is
moving forward with the development of standards for the advanced
principal certification.
NBPTS is accepting applications from educators who wish to serve on
a new standards committee for the development of accomplished principal
standards.
The selection of committee members is an extensive process involving
two levels of applicants: (1) Stakeholders and NBPTS Board Members are
invited to submit nominees, who will receive an invitation by email
requesting they apply using our electronic application; and (2) an open
application is available online for any member of the public to apply.
National Board Certified Teachers throughout the nation recognize
the importance of school-based leadership in creating a culture of
learning and supporting accomplished teachers. Reports from a series of
state and national summits on supporting and staffing high-need
schools, attended by hundreds of NBCTs, ranked school-building
leadership among the most important factors in recruiting and retaining
accomplished teachers and advancing student learning.
If you are interested in being considered for this opportunity, visit the NBPTS Application page
to begin the application process. Applications must be completed by
5:00 p.m., EDT, May 30, 2009. For questions and/or additional
information, contact nominations@nbpts.org.
