This Manual focuses on obtaining Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and lawful permanent residency for children through probate court guardianships.  It is written for attorneys handling cases pro bono through Public Counsel and must be used with the 2009 Guardianship of the Person Attorney Manual.  It is designed to give a step-by-step overview of the SIJS process, both in the probate court guardianship stage and the immigration service stage.
