California College Pathways Newsletter, Summer 2010

July 01, 2010

In June 2008, the John Burton Foundation and the California State University Office of the Chancellor launched the California College Pathways Project to help former foster youth succeed in college. The project is funded by the Stuart Foundation and the Walter S. Johnson Foundation.

The California College Pathways Project is dedicated to increasing the number of former foster youth in California who enter higher education and achieve academic excellence.

In this edition of the California College Pathway newsletter, the achievements of more than 50 students from foster care attending the California State University, University of California, California Community Colleges and private universities from across the state are highlighted. These students have overcome both personal and academic challenges to fulfill their dream of a college education. You are invited to read how the journey of a college education has transformed their lives and the accomplishments and insights they have attained along the way.
