Insights, Volume V, Fall 2011

October 07, 2011

Insights, published by the California Child Welfare Co-Investment Partnership, examines the links between data, policy and outcomes for California’s most vulnerable children and families. This issue looks at educational outcome data for foster youth in California.

This issue of Insights provides data on educational outcomes for youth in foster care. Presenting data from an array of research reports, it is finally possible to look at how foster youth are doing from early childhood to college. The publication also highlights which practices are working to better support foster youth to succeed. New data actually demonstrates that foster youth outperform their peers in college when supports are in place. Finally, suggested policy improvements are outlined for school administrators, public agencies and community partners, and policymakers.
