Education Program Proposal Guidelines

If you have been invited to submit a proposal, please review the following guidelines.

Your proposal should address all of the areas below. If you have questions, please call 415.393.1551.

Define the Issue

Describe the problem and how it impacts children and youth. Include relevant baseline data related to your target population or geographic service area.

Proposed Project

Provide an overview of your project that answers all of the following questions:

• What is the theory of change on which the project is based?
• How does the project design reflect the theory of change?
• What evidence or research supports the theory and design of the project?
• How does the project align with the objectives of our Education program?
• Who will benefit and how?
• What is the anticipated duration of the project?

Organizational Capacity

In describing your organization, please address the following questions:

• Why is your agency qualified to tackle this work?
• What leadership has your organization demonstrated in the field?
• What partnerships have you established that will support and further this work?
• What other financial commitments have you secured to support this project?
• What is your experience in testing promising practices or affecting systems change?
• What is the governance structure for your agency and for this project?
• Have key personnel been identified?

Proposed Budget

Using the template below, provide an annual budget for the entire program as well as a specific budget for this project. Include a written explanation of each program component. If other sources of funds have been identified, please indicate how costs will be allocated to each source.

Interim and Long-Term Outcomes

Provide specific and measurable outcomes for the first year as well as for any additional years of funding that you have requested.

• What client outcomes will demonstrate success?
• Will you use an external evaluator? If so, please describe their expertise in the field.
• What interim measures will be used to determine if your program is on track?
• Do you need access to data from another agency to evaluate outcomes? If so, attach a memorandum of understanding regarding data access.

Intellectual Property Rights

Please describe any intellectual property that will be created over the course of your project.

• Who will hold the copyright?
• How will it be made available for use on behalf of children, youth and the public good?
